Rosalynn Carter is recovering from surgery in Atlanta

Former first lady Rosalynn Carter is recovering from surgery at the Emory University Hospital.

Carter, 90, had surgery to remove on Sunday, scar tissue from a part of your small intestine, The Carter Center said in a statement. The Operation was successful. The scar tissue, the statement said, was developed after a cyst was removed many years ago.

Carter is expected to remain in hospital for several days, where they can rest and recover, the statement said.

The former first lady to President Jimmy Carter married on 7. July 1946 in Plains, Georgia, and proved to be a driving force for mental health during his presidential administration.


She was honorary Chairman of the President of the Commission for Mental health, founded in consequence of the passage of the Mental Health Systems Act of 1980, and has on mental health, human rights and other issues through her work at The Carter Center, the private, non-profit institution, the carters in 1982

Rosalynn Carter is often seen in the Maranatha Baptist Church, President Carter’s hometown, in the Church, where the former President teaches Sunday school.
