RIVM investigates the increase of W-variant meningitis
The national Institute for public Health and the Environment (RIVM), will investigate the need for measures against a certain meningokok bacteria that meningitis causes. The variant in question, which is the letter W said, the last few years in percentage terms is much more frequent.
In the period from October 2015 to march 2017 were 79 people with the W-variant infected, of whom nine died. In the years that came before the contamination with the W-bacterium, five to six times per year, according to the RIVM on Wednesday.
