Riots in migrantenwijk Stockholm after arrest
After the arrest in a subway station in a migrantenwijk Stockholm Monday night a few dozen young people violently went against the police. Agents were pelted with stones and an agent fixes a warning shot, police said Tuesday.
During the riots in the district of Rinkeby were three people injured, among them a policeman and a press photographer. Ten cars were set on fire and several stores looted. A shopkeeper was attacked when he tried his case to protect it. After midnight, police managed to restore order.
More than 80 percent of the population of Rinkeby are migrants. The unemployment rate is high. The police has in the past repeatedly criticized to endure a lot because they are not good to deal with the problems in the district. About the suspect whose arrest gave rise to the riots was nothing further to be known.
In 2013 was Rinkeby also the stage for riots. The district is one of fifteen Swedish areas by the police, to be known as “particularly vulnerable” in a report from 2015. The police denies that there is a “no-go zone”.
