Civil rights icon and U.S. Rep. John Lewis was taken to the hospital for unknown reasons.
Citing a statement from Lewis’ office, WSB-TV reported that 78-year-old Georgia Congress, was a member of the “rest” in a hospital Saturday night “routine observation”.
The statement says Lewis released to be expected Sunday.
Lewis, a Democrat, played a crucial role in the civil rights movement and marched with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1965 in Selma, Alabama.
Lewis was not to be expected at an Atlanta event on Saturday evening, but present.
