“Parents should not teach their children that boys can’t hit girls because it’s wrong, but they need to learn that hitting anyone is wrong,” the author wrote. “They’ll be back as they used to be, someone to save, regardless of whether or not they are a boy or a girl.”

“Equal rights, equal fights. Teach your children that they will never start a fight, but to teach them to be able to defend themselves if they come under attack,” one commenter wrote.
“Amen to that. I will teach my children to be, not at all. However, if you do that, you would expect back,” wrote another.

Another user thought that this was a step further, writing, “Not only taught that it is wrong, but it is that is causing the pain. A child is able to understand the pain is more than what is ‘wrong’ is.”
Even though a lot of commenters seemed to agree with the author’s name, a user pointed out that “a lot of people still have the mentality that it’s not ok [sic] to hit a woman, even in self-defense.”

“It’s a little difficult to do. Of course, anyone who perpetrates violence on another person should not be able to be able to get an equally violent reaction, but, in general, the size and/or strength differential CAN be a bit one-sided [sic],” the user wrote. “So, the whole” equal rights, equal lefts’, the philosophy of it can end up being somewhat…wrong.”
The user is added to a measured response based on the situation, instead of matching force with force.”
