RED makes a smartphone, 1.195 dollars with holographic screen
Camera manufacturer RED is working on a high-end smartphone with a holographic screen. The device is called the Hydrogen One, and from 1.195 dollars (about 1.046 of euro) sold.
The 5,7-inch screen uses nanotechnology to “seamlessly switch between traditional 2D content, holographic content, 3D content, and interactive games,” says RED (pdf). Also, virtual and augmented reality by the unit supported.
The phone will also support for various modules which can be added. These modules focus on improved photography, including lenses specifically for making videos.
The unit has a USB-C port, an input for a micro-SD card and a headphone jack. Further specifications are not published.
The Hydrogen One should be at the beginning of 2018 be shipped. An aluminium version is for 1.195 dollars (about 1.046 of euro) sold, but there is also a version of titanium for 1.595 dollar (approximately 1.396 euros). The separate modules in the launch are not yet on sale.
