The new album Joanne of Lady Gaga is from Friday to purchase. Reviewers are excited about the austere style of the album.

The last studio album of the American artist, is Artpop from 2013. A year later came the jazzalbum Cheek to Cheek that the singer was Tony Bennett.

Joanne is her fifth studio album. Below is an overview of the reviews.

USA Today – 3 stars

“Joanne still has traces of the hitmachine who Lady Gaga was in the past, that is all to hear in the first single from the album Perfect Illusion and A-YO. But the rest of the album tells a different story, that of an artist who gets rid of the theatre and what remains is a collection of numbers that is colored by country and western.”

The New York Times – give no stars

“Her new album, the stripped-down Joanne, it is not challenging or radical – it’s logical, an answer to her past and also on the sickly sweet pop that surrounds him.” The newspaper is a little excited about the musical collaborations that Lady Gaga comes on. Sounds like Florence Welch “not as brutal as normal” and is of the “reliable funk” by Mark Ronson “very little about”.

The Guardian – 3 stars

“Joanne is Gaga without the look-at-me-low. For the first time she has made an album where they don’t used much more than the sources of it before they a star was: a strong, clear voice and the life-as-they-are-it-looks-honesty.”

Telegraph – 4 stars

“Joanne, she wants to let people hear that they can sing. And boy, that she can. But that raw, hard, changing, bluesy Broadway show is definitely not what young people exciting find on an album. (…) By Lady Gaga, so bljikt, is an old-fashioned rock’n’ roll-showgirl.”
