Recensieoverzicht: Johnny Depp, remains intact in Pirates of the Caribbean 5

In Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge plays Johnny Depp for the fifth time in the role of captain Jack Sparrow. The previous Pirates movie from 2011 was by reviewers called into question, but took more than a billion within. An overview of some Dutch reviewers of the fifth part.

The Volkskrant – three stars

“Be Depps mannerisms and drunk English accent isn’t annoying? Falls into. That Sparrow in the hands of the Norwegian Hollywood debutantes Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki) new impetus, it would too much to say, but the reunion with the slapstickpiraat is remarkably enjoyable. Depp also seems to own plenty of fun to the reunion experience, as always zwalkend from one unlikely spectacle of the other.”

NRC – two stars

“Between the kanongebulder and sabelgekletter is little sprankelends: only an attack of zombiehaaien and a failed dubbelexecutie with gallows and guillotine eyes fresh. That is too little for two hours and ten minutes. (…) One after the other, jack jumps out of his box, and nothing matters, because everything can. Rarely was a fantastic movie so unimaginative.”

AD – four stars

“Where Depp in movies like Mortdecai (2015) and The Lone Ranger (2013) a pale shadow of Jack Sparrow at best, he is like the real Sparrow happy to fully re-floated. Worth mentioning is also Bardem, who, as Salazar great looking: the combination of inventive make-up and digital post-production makes his character a visual tour de force.”

Loyalty – three stars

“Agility, roller coaster action and visually computerspektakel determine again the atmosphere: a pity for lovers of good old fashioned acrobatic adventures. The film also had to reassure a half hour shorter planet. But you do get a flitsoptreden of pop idol-on-the age Paul McCartney, and of the heroine from the first films, Keira Knightley, for back.”
