EAR

Vedder is known as an outspoken man, but looks Saturday night, according to music magazine OOR of what is absent. Perhaps it has to do with the death of his friend Chris Cornell, the singer of Soundgarden.

“To his actions is not. Vedder thanked the fans in English – “it means a lot to me that you are there when we need you” – throws guitar picks to enthusiasts and comes every now and then, witty and out of the corner, but his attitude does not give the impression that all is well with him.”

The singer is good and at times very good, but not in bloedvorm, according to EAR. “His character, ashy voice is exactly as you want to hear, his guitar playing is dynamic and always completely in the service of his songs. However, he lacks the power of special guest Glen Hansard, who, during his own opening act the AFAS Live flat plays.”

NRC – three stars

“In a colourful setting that by the roadies in white coats ready was made, and showed Eddie Vedder is the time to enter what songs he was singing,” writes the NRC.

“With the electric guitar in Pearl Jam Long Road, sounded his voice is full and overwhelming. With ukulele in songs from his solo projects Into the Wild and Ukukele Songs was the contrast between the weedy sounding instrument and vedder’s vocal showmanship is sometimes so great that there is a storm los seemed to burst.”

The covers of Imagine and Rockin’ in the Free World underscored vedder’s good intentions, says NRC. “His voice is an overwhelming wonder of the world that Pearl Jam better on his place.”

Musically it was good, according to the AD. “Vedder, those songs of Pearl Jam afwisselde with own songs and covers, was in fine voice, the sound was almost perfect and he varied enough with his guitars and his songs.”

AD – four stars

Vedder (52) is called Saturday night in AFAS Live the name of his deceased friend Chris Cornell. Who was looking for a link to Cornell, had especially read between the lines and listen, says the AD.

“The emotions, that there were for Vedder, who are fans thanked because they were there in the moments that they need them. That could as required number to be considered, but there were more emotional moments, which he overcame by verbeten to play the guitar, on his voetdrum stamping (Immortality), or by the creator himself to cry (My dear God, where were you?).”

Musically it was good, according to the AD. “Vedder, those songs of Pearl Jam afwisselde with own songs and covers, was in fine voice, the sound was almost perfect and he varied enough with his guitars and his songs.”

“One of the highlights, late in the show, was the duet with his special guest Glen Hansard on the Song of good hope. With voices that complement each other so nicely they would be a lot more together, must do. Only that combination already made the evening more than worth the effort.”
