Recensieoverzicht Dumbo: the Movie is visually seen and at times sublime’

Director Tim Burton has a reinterpretation of the animated film Dumbo, which in 1940 came out. Since Wednesday is running the updated version of the olifantendrama in the cinema, which roles are reserved for, among others, Colin Farrell and Eva Green. But what do the critics of this remake?
The Volkskrant – three stars

“What is striking is the choice for Transformers-screenwriter Ehren Kruger, who is a weak narrator shows: it is never completely sure about who the movie well. The elephant? The children? Not all characters come to life: Colin Farrell keeps a wooden klaas as one-armed artist, and father of Dumbo’s verzorgertjes. Danny DeVito is quite pleasant as opportunistic ringmaster. On Dumbo itself is little to criticize.”

NRC – two stars

“Visually is Dumbo at times sublime, with particular Vanderveres steampunk-version of Disneyland. We know that of director Tim Burton; a pity that he is again satisfied with a boring lopendebandscenario full of corny jokes and the characters of bordkarton. For example, even Michael Keaton was little to make of a villain who is sometimes a cynical geldwolf and sometimes a cruel fanatic who are capital – Dumbo, his mother, koordanseres Colette – on the game.”

AD – four stars

“The approach of Burton picks up good. Dumbo works on many levels; action, spectacle, emotion, visual showmanship, in short, a hit.”

The Parool gives no stars

“The designers and animators, there are excellent managed to Disneys beloved mythical animal in a human world, to integrate, without the endearing and wonderful character to lose. With this toddler, it is easy to understand, making the tragic fate of circus animals understand and Dumbo’s flight moves, and transports.”
