Recensieoverzicht: Cold Pursuit is misdaadkomedie with a sharp edge’

From Thursday’s Cold Pursuit in the cinema to see a winter misdaadcomedy with a wraaklustige Liam Neeson. What did the Dutch film critics? An overview of published reviews.
The Telegraph – a 3.5 star

“The Norwegian director Hans Petter Moland, who is responsible for the original, also signed for the new version, where he does some fresh elements added. The violence that he shows is so horrendous, that the absurdity of it is emphasized. That gives this black misdaadkomedie a sharp edge. His dry humor in this remake, however, just slightly less well in the paint.”

The Volkskrant – 2 stars

“Neeson is acting in his umpteenth role as wraakvader on autopilot, what can be said of the, directed by Hans Petter Moland, with Cold Pursuit, is a rather useless American remake made of his own Norwegian thriller In Order of Disappearance (Kraftidioten, 2014). The film has its moments, but for a comical referred action movie, the jokes are depressingly thin on the ground – or they get snowed under in the bloody violence.”

NRC – 3 stars

“Cold Pursuit is a successful one-on-eenvertaling of a misdaadkomedie of the Guy Ritchie-type seasoned with dry Scandinavian humour. Coxmans only son dies of an overdose, turns out to be murder, and the old snow blower through a misdaadbende up plows to the client: The Viking, a snobbish, hysterical gangsterbaas in a vechtscheiding. Liam Neesons unmistakable gravitas makes the show involuntarily became more serious: Cold Pursuit succeeds as an entertaining, ironic variant on the Neeson-film of revenge.”
