Radboudumc research pijngevoeligheid of Dutch
The Radboudumc in Nijmegen is a large national investigation into the pijngevoeligheid of the Dutch. That should lead to better treatments for people who are constantly in pain, made to the university hospital Wednesday known.
Almost 20 percent of the Dutch population suffers from chronic pain. The (financial) consequences of this are, according to the Radboud researchers is greater than that of cancer, heart disease and diabetes. This is because people with pain are often their whole life painkillers to swallow, and regularly go to the gp. A lot of good pijnbehandelingen are there according to the researchers, not yet.
The Radboud want to know more or people who pijngevoeliger are also more likely to have chronic pain and what are the consequences for daily life. “Pain also depends on the context. After a failed surgery, or in a bad mood you will experience more pain,” said the researchers.
They go the pain that people experience a measure on the basis of a questionnaire sent to them at home behind the computer can fill in. The research is conducted in cooperation with the scientific television program The Knowledge of Now and the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). The results are at the end of november published.
