Racoon 28 april 2018 concert in Ziggo Dome
The Dutch band Racoon gives on 28 april 2018 with a concert in the Amsterdam Ziggo Dome.
That made the band Thursday is known in RTL Boulevard. Racoon also announced their new album, Look Ahead and See the Distance, that on 6 October.
Look Ahead and See the Distance is an album that to me has come by the inspiration of our bassist Stefan de Kroon. “He covers for me the cargo full, because he is so fabulous double,” explains frontman Bart van der Weide. “Open your eyes, but once open, because the end is near. That sounds very heavy. But what that exactly is, nobody knows. There is something on our afgedenderd, according to me we feel it all, but no one knows the naming.”
The writing of the album was as always, says guitarist Dennis Current. “Ideas and case-insensitive strings always come at the most unexpected moments and then you have to catch them. Later we will work them into real numbers. We’ve been doing that for years and that we have now done.”
The songs are increasingly about less fun things. This is mainly because the men of Racoon age. “In the run-up to that album, coming from everything in your life. Fun stuff, but also less fun things. As you get older, it is becoming less fun things, I can tell you. People around you are also older and some are sick. So there is also a little bit of pain and misery in this record,” says Van der Weide, who last year, his sister Anne lost to cancer.
A large part of the plate is about her. “I’m glad I had her in this way, a beautiful place have given in my life,” says the singer.
The band scored earlier hits with songs like Love you more and Ocean.
