‘Quarter of dialogues in greatest American films by women’
27 percent of the dialogues in the top ten of the greatest American films in 2016 by women lined.
This is evident from research data analyst Amber Thomas. They analyzed the transcripts of the top ten American movies of 2016, and counted among more the number of words by men and by women is to be pronounced.
The films he analyzed were Captain America: Civil War, Finding Dory, Zootopia, The Jungle Book, The Secret Life of Pets, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Deadpool, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Suicide Squad.
Finding Dory has of the investigated films the strongest female representation: only 43 per cent of the characters in that movie is a woman. In addition, 53 percent of the words in the film by a woman pronounced, of which 76 percent only by Dory.
At Rogue One was only 9 percent of characters are female. 78 percent of the female dialogue in Rogue One conducted by Felicity Jones, in the role of Jyn Erso. In Jungle Book was 10 per cent of the dialogues will be conducted by a female character.
