Puss in boots Cat wins Zapp Theaterprijs 2016
The performance Puss in boots Kitty of the RO Theater is by the children’s program Zapp Live voted the best show of the last theatre season. The children’s jury awarded the prize Saturday morning during a live broadcast.
Throughout the country, and brought children in the past year their vote on their favorite performance. From the five most beloved performances are chosen by a jury of nine young theatre-goers the winner.
“The Puss Cat is three hours long a great celebration, not only for children also for their parents,” said the jury. “The time flies by because there is so much happening. The whole room is happy to be home!”
The contemporary adaptation of the famous fairy tale tells about molenaarszoon Jaap that if he lose one friend you can trust: his Puss Cat. Together they trek through a foreign country, in search of food and work. The leading roles were played by Maarten Heijmans, Arjan Ederveen, Alex Klaasen, Dick van den Toorn and Wart Kamps.
The piece is written by Don Duyns, who was with the RO Theater’s successful musical Long & Happy made. The family shows of the RO Theater harvest for years, much success and fell several times in prices.
The Zapp Theaterprijs was this year for the sixth time awarded.
