Purse snatcher foiled by the athletic supermarket employee: ‘Juwone is a true hero!’

An alleged purse snatcher picked the wrong grocery store, to the commission of the crime.

When one of the employees allegedly saw a man grab a purse from a woman shopping in a Shreveport, La., he jumped into action, chasing the suspect and, allegedly for the fight against the man until he gave up the stolen purse.

Juwone Scott, 26, said the crime while he was in a meeting with a client last Thursday, KSLA 12 reports. According to the outlet, and the suspect was later identified as 42-year-old Jared Freeman.

He reportedly saw the victim, Crystal Cray, cash her paycheck at the store and then followed her out to the parking lot. Cray said that she had just received her first check from the new job, and they need the money to pay her rent.

“My apartment was in the bag,” Cray told KSLA 12. “My apartment was in the bag. A few of the names to take a chance on me, giving me a place to live, however, are only the start of a job.”

Juwone, meanwhile, is an athlete who has participated in the Special Olympics in weight-lifting, running, hiking, and a variety of other events.

The morgan city Police department later shared the news of the incident on their Facebook page, where she proclaimed, “is An employee of the company, gave chase and confronted the robber and was able to recover the victim’s purse, but was then assaulted by the suspect during his valiant effort, causing a small wound.”

The post also revealed that a government that is Powerful thanks to the tips received from their Crime Stoppers organization. He has reportedly been charged with “one count of purse snatching and one count of simple battery.”

Cray also posted about the incident on Facebook, says Scott, for the return of her purse.

“Juwone is a true hero!” she wrote. “I have been so very blessed by this amazing guy, and so is the community. Let’s make him famous! When you get to brookshire’s on line and see Juwone please shake his hand or even give you a huge hug!”
