Publishing house demands hefty compensation from Netflix for Black Mirror-film

An American publisher of children’s books, Chooseco, has Netflix have been sued. The phrase Choose your own adventures, that was used for the recently released Black Mirror-film Bandersnatch, it would be a trademark of the publishing house.

Bandersnatch is a film of the popular series Black Mirror. In the movie gives viewers the opportunity to make his own choices about the storylines.

According to Chooseco is the phrase Choose your own adventures”choose your own adventures”), that Netflix in the marketing campaign of Bandersnatch used, however, their trademark, writes The Hollywood Reporter. Chooseco would be the trademark since the early 1980’s use and more than 265 million copies of the so-called Choose your own adventures books have sold.

“Chooseco and Netflix are already years in negotiation about the use of the phrase, but Netflix has never had a licence”, as is read in the indictment. “One time, Chooseco Netflix in a written statement, asked to use the Choose your own adventures-trademark not to use it for their marketing campaign.”

Chooseco requires at least 25 million dollars (over 21 million euro) compensation of Netflix.
