Profile Doris Day: Iconic actress led after career retired life

The American actress and singer Doris Day, known from the song Que Sera, Sera, is on Monday at age 97 died. Day led since her departure from the white cloth a retired life.

Doris Day, who is actually Doris Mary Kappelhoff was called, was in 1922, in Cincinnati born as the daughter of a music teacher and a housewife. Her grandparents were German immigrants.

At a young age had Day interested in dancing, but when a car accident injured, she discovered her singing talent. In the forties, scored them with Sentimental Journey, her first hit, followed by other successes. In the fifties, it was Day one of the most popular singers in the United States.

One of Days most iconic films, Pillow Talk, came out in 1959. It was the first of three romantic comedy – the other two were in Lover Come Back and Send Me No Flowers – which the actress, with Rock Hudson and Tony Randall.

Day lose a man and gets deep in debt

A period of hardship followed. Day lost at the end of the sixties her third husband, Martin Melcher. They came then to find out that he and his business partner, her money squandered and that they are this deep in debt was. Also she learned that Melcher her name had connected to the tv series, The Doris Day Show, while they’ll never consent to had given.

After five years there came an end to the show, which Day mainly contributed to its debts to pay. Day retired after her showbizzcarrière back in Carmel-by-the-sea in California and founded by the late seventies the Doris Day Pet Foundation. These welfare-oriented organization is today called the Doris Day Animal Foundation (DDAF).

‘We are glad to hear that my movies with a good feeling’

“I get so many nice letters from fans, sometimes only eight years old,” said Day in a rare interview with The Hollywood Reporter in march of this year. “Some people know my movies, thanks to their great-grandmothers. Different movies will be kept in different viewers hanging for different reasons, but I think that my films always have a positive message uitdroegen.”
