Prison guard charged with pepper spraying inmate’s genitals

SCRANTON, Pa. – Pennsylvania prison guard was placed on paid leave and charged with simple assault for allegedly pepper-spraying of an inmate of the genitals.

The (Scranton) Times-Tribune ) says that the incident with the Lackawanna County jail, Sgt. Scott Blume occurred Sept. 24, but not come to light until the inmate wrote to a judge to complain Oct. 18.

District Attorney Shane Scanlon says in a criminal complaint that the incident happened after the inmate was drunk on homemade alcohol made from leftover fruit. That is when Blume made of the detainee to dress up, so that he could be placed in restrictive housing and sprayed the inmate through a prison, to open the door, when he refused to change.

Scanlon, says he filed the charges because the force was no longer needed.

Blume’s attorney did not immediately comment on Tuesday. He is facing a disciplinary hearing and may be dismissed.
