Prince William, ‘angry’ by Meghan Markle the lavish baby shower, says Princess Diana’s butler

connectVideoRoyal expert claims prince Harry and prince William may have argued about Meghan Markle

Prince William ‘ s care for his younger brother Harry may have caused a gap that still continues today, says a royal expert.

Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell claimed Prince William will not be happy to hear that his sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, had a star-studded baby shower on the other side of the pond.

The 60-year-old previously served as a footman to William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, before he began working for his mother, Diana, the late princess of Wales.

“I think Prince William will be angry by all Meghan luxury, extravagance this week and the fact that her baby shower looked so ‘celebrity’ in place of ‘royal,’ he wrote for The Sun and Friday. “He has worked for many years with the press to give them what they want, but also gets what he wants back privacy. Meghan is doing exactly what he is not — love all the attention for her and her baby.”

Burrell pointed out that while William’s wife, Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, had a baby shower for their firstborn, Prince George, that the celebration “was [a] very own contained thing.”

“I think William and Kate Middleton, will be completely bewildered by why Meghan is to do this, because there is no excuse for over-indulgence or over and that is what it is, seems to me,” claimed Burrell. “Although William mingles with the A-list celebrities, he will not take them home with him, they are not his friends. They are people with whom he works. The celebrity world in which Meghan had sunk seems to be where all her friends are, and that can only be a disaster.”

Burrell suggests that the lines between Markle’s former life as a Hollywood star and her new as a member of the British royal family “are becoming increasingly blurred.”

“There is a clear line between the two, and Meghan don’t know the difference,” he claimed. “The baby shower was clearly stipulated in the spotlight. Why would you invite a CBS anchor of your event if it was private?”

Burrell claimed that when it comes to public life, the royals are fiercely protecting of their privacy, and put duty first, before fame. While she is seen and photographed by the public at events, or when the support of the causes, the royals prefer to keep their life behind the palace doors. And while Markle, 37, is an American and a newcomer, they have to learn the ways of royal life.

For William, 36, who is second in line for the throne, Burrell said he focuses on the role that fate has in store for him.

“The two different families… drifting further and further from each other, and that can be a good thing, because Kate and William have to remain spotless,” said Burrell. “They have never put a foot wrong. Kate is an exemplary example of a queen in waiting and that is what she has in our eyes. They may not be involved in all of this. I am glad that they do not get to New York, because if they were it would be reflected on her. And again, why was there no family in the baby shower? Why wasn’t her mother there? It all seems very strange to me.”

“Prince William tries to keep his family out of the spotlight, so the fact Meghan’s baby shower was so vain, it will be frustrating for me, and it caused a rift in the family,” added Burrell. “…. I think there are more surprises to come, where Meghan is involved and she will buck against royal tradition. With the baby coming, she has the ideal platform to do this. She is going to do it Meghan the road and not the royal way.”

However, not everyone agrees with Burrell’s analysis.

The british royal expert Katie Nicholl told Fox News that some critics are concerned Markle is the spending of taxpayers ‘ money for extravagant outing, it was her friends who feet the bill. Therefore, Markle does not flaunt her wealth as the newest member of the British royal family.

“Much has been made of how much the shower will cost, but this is not paid for by the taxpayer, but by her friends, so I don’t see why anyone would have a problem with it,” said Nicholl. “It is the case that a baby shower is more of an American phenomenon than a British, and I am told Meghan was very excited to have a shower and happy that her friends Serena Williams and Amal Clooney offered to host the party. They really pulled out all the stops and made it a fantastic party for Meghan.”

And when it comes to the royal family, the royal expert Marlene Koenig said that they would not want Markle to give up her American traditions, or close circle of friends, despite her title. And when it comes to supposedly show off her wealth, she said Prince William and his wife head to the tropical island of Mustique, “a private island for the very wealthy,” almost every winter for the sun.

“[British royal family] know that Meghan had a life and career before getting married,” said Koenig. “She has adapted to royal duties very well, but she has friends who live in the US — friends that are well connected, well educated and professional women.”

“Personally, I think that the queen and [Prince] Charles can be impressed by Meghan’s friends, because most have achieved their successes on their own merits — for example, Meghan,” she continued. “The only negatives, and a cramp will come out of the British tabloid press. They thrive on negativity.”
