The Afficheprijs, the award for the best Dutch film poster of the year, after fifteen editions no longer issued. That has initiator Jan Pieter Ekker Thursday on his blog published.
The price was always a part of the Netherlands Film Festival, Wednesday, was launched in Utrecht, the netherlands. It is created to the poster, a neglected but important part of filmpromotie, to give more attention. The public could vote on five shortlisted posters, who by a jury were chosen.
The award was first awarded by the filmblad Skrien, and then by the website Cinema.nl. But due to budget cuts, the filmsite no more money to the initiative to continue to support.
“Maybe I do still make an attempt to afficheprijs to reach out on the day when the cinemas their annual figures disclose”, writes Ekker. “I have only one sponsor needed: 6.500 euros will suffice for the entire organization and the prize money.” The Afficheprijs was the last years won by films such as Prince, Boys, The new wilderness, Van God los and Minoes.
