Preliminary selection of 31 Dutch athletes for world CHAMPIONSHIP of athletics
The Dutch team for the world CHAMPIONSHIPS in London (4 to 13 August) has provisionally 31 athletes, technical director, Ad Roskam of the Atletiekunie Wednesday announced.
The final selection he will start next week to provide clarity. In the world cup team are currently three estafetteploegen. “The 4×100 men’s 4×100 and women’s 4×400 women are provisionally placed,” explains Roskam.
“They may, however, from the field to be replaced by other countries and at the same time, our 4×400 mannenteam coming weekend in Heusden to attempt to qualify. For that reason, the complete team, not until next week Monday final.”
A Quarter, Michel Butter and Jip Vastenburg are selected for the world cup, but the three will refrain from participation in London. “With the announcement of the world cup squad, these 31 names fixed, these athletes can their starting not one other athlete will lose to a better performance”, showed Roskam know.
“For the IAAF runs the qualification period is a week longer than it was for us. In theory, it is possible that one of our athletes to still meet the IAAF requirement. And then we’re going to seriously look at whether such athlete will be added to our team on outstanding places.”
The preliminary world cup team consists of twenty women and eleven men. Dafne Schippers is the eye-catcher of the Orange. The 25-year-old athlete to defend her world title at the 200 metres. She takes in London also participated in the 100 meters and on the 4×100 meter relay race.
Also medaillekandidate Sifan Hassan is on three loopnummers from: 800, 1500 and 5000 meters. In the men appears Churandy Martina in the 200 meters and on the 4×100 meter relay race at the start.
