Portland, to see the man’s 43rd break-in convictions in at least 50 years of age: a report

A Portland man on Friday, received on 43rd break-in convictions in at least 50 years, according to a new report.

Melvin Lee Tillman, 64, was sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison for his conviction of burglarizing 10 local companies in the last year, the Oregonian reported. Prosecutors said Tillman may hold the record for one of Portland’s most prolific property offenders.

“I’m an attorney here for 12 years and I have never seen a defendant with a criminal history find their way into the home of the perpetrator of the rich, such as Mr. Tillman” s,” Deputy district Attorney Christopher Shull said.

During the course of his career, Tillman has been aimed at small, independent businesses, the researchers said. Tillman kept burglarizing, to fuel a life-long cocaine addiction, according to court documents, the

Tillman was taken to the jail at least 15 times, according to the Oregon Department of Corrections. A department spokeswoman said that, as he has for 53 felony convictions, including 43 of the second-degree-burglary convictions.

Tillman faces up to 25 years, Oregon’s property crime is law, but his sentence was reduced, on the grounds of age and ill-health, the Oregonian reported.
