CINCINNATI – Police are trying to determine what led to gunfire in Ohio a hospital for psychiatric services emergency room that left an unarmed security officer wounded and the gunman dead.
The shooting happened Wednesday at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center psychiatric services wing. Cincinnati police are scheduled to release updated information on their investigation Thursday.
They did not identify the shooter Wednesday. The police think he died of a self-inflicted shot after the storming of the facility.
The police Eliot Isaac said police did not know whether the man was known to the employees or the medical staff.
The police responded to an “active shooter” report on the area of UC Medical Center just before 2 a.m., Wednesday. Isaac said afterward that the police were still piecing together the sequence of events, but did not believe that all the officials relieved of their weapons.
