Police officers replace girl’s stolen birthday gifts

NEW YORK – Two New York City police officers have a 4-year-old girl is a lot of toys to replace her stolen birthday presents.

The Staten Island Advance newspaper (http://bit.ly/2hMjCWX says the thief struck on Saturday. Little Sammi Sietz’s family was parked outside a restaurant when someone has a window smashed their minivan.

Officers Frank Callaghan and Michael McAvoy arrived at their house on Sunday with dozens of toys.

Kim Briano Sietz says her happy child told her: “Look, Mama, they liked my presents.”

Sietz says Sammi’s birthday had helped take her mind off the loss of her husband, Matthew Sietz, who died three years ago. She says that the family was shocked by the theft.

Sietz says the officers have restored her faith in people. She says it is a gift that they “never forget.”
