APPLETON, Wis. – A police officer and a firefighter injured in a shooting in Appleton, Wisconsin, and a number of others were taken to a hospital.
Appleton police officer Megan Cash said emergency responders went to a location in the city centre, following a call that someone needed medical assistance around 5:30 pm, Wednesday.
It is not yet clear what happened after they arrived but Money says that there is a shooting and the fire brigade and the officer injured. She did not give of their condition.
Cash says that they do not know how many other people were injured, but several were taken to a local hospital.
Asked if a suspect was arrested, Money is not respond directly, but said: “There is no threat to the community.”
Appleton is about 120 miles (193 kilometers) north of Milwaukee.
