Poland buy large collection for ‘5 percent of true value’
Poland has for relatively little money and a huge collection of purchased. It comes to the collection of the family of Czartoryski, culminating in the painting Lady with Ermine by Leonardo da Vinci from 1490.
The collection includes 86.000 objects and 250,000 books and has and estimated value of 2 billion euro.
The collection includes, in addition to the work of Da Vinci works by Rembrandt and Renoir. The largest part of the art is on display in the National Museum in Krakow.
Poland have to pay a ‘mere’ 100 million euros, announced cultuurminister Piotr Glinski. “We have the collection for 5 percent of the value acquired,” he said Friday on the Polish television.
Adam Karol Czartoryski, heir of the famous house and the owner of the art reported that he is the quantity sold because he is “the work of my ancestors for the well-being of Poland wishes to continue”.
