Pierre Bokma plays the lead role in war film Banker of the Resistance
Actor Pierre Bokma plays one of the lead roles in the new Dutch war film Banker of the Resistance. He played the role of NSB and politician, Meinoud Rost van Tonningen, for instance, producer EN Film Monday known.
Banker of the Resistance tells us about the brothers Walraven and Gijs van Hall, who in the Second world War by underground bank the resistance helped. The two brothers are played by Barry Atsma and Jacob Derwig, who played together before in the series Penoza and Clamp.
Producer EN Film mentions the history of the brothers “one of the most impressive verzetsverhalen from that period. They belong to the great heroes of the recent national history”.
The creators work for the movie together with the family Of Hall. The direction is in the hands of Joram Lürsen, among others, Everything is Love.
The role of Bokma going to play, is based on the life of Meinoud Rost van Tonningen (1894-1945). He collaboreerde during the Second world War with the nazis, and gold as an important NSB-head.
During the German occupation of the Netherlands he was appointed secretary-general of Finance and he headed The Dutch central Bank. After the liberation he committed suicide in the prison of Scheveningen.
The story of his widow, Florrie Rost van Tonningen, was rather a source of inspiration for the film The order of the director Pieter Kuijpers. Banker of the Resistance must in 2018 in the Dutch cinemas.
