Peter van Straaten wins again Inktspotprijs
Peter van Straaten has the Inktspotprijs 2016 won with his drawing of ‘Refugees’. That was sat night known in press centre ‘Nieuwspoort’ in The Hague.
It is the fifth time that the 81-year-old Peter van Straaten the Inktspotprijs wins. He was not at the awards ceremony because his health no longer allows it. He thanked with a written message: “This was the very last time for me. I am unfortunately done.”
The winning drawing depicts two women. The one woman is wearing a jacket with hood, long pants, and two bags. She says to the other woman in mantelpak: “I am not a refugee. I’ve been living for twenty years next to you”.
No one won so often the Inktspotprijs as Van Straaten. The winning drawing appeared on the november 3, 2015 in de Volkskrant.
The jury this year consisted of Theodor Holman, Dominique van der Heyde and Ionica Smeets. Abdelkader Benali was this summer from the jury set after he negatively had spoken about cartoonist Ruben Oppenheimer on Twitter.
