The Us president, Donald Trump has the Dutch-American former Congressman Pete Hoekstra nominated as the new Us ambassador in the Netherlands, write the American media.
The 63-year-old Hoekstra, one of the advisers of Trump, emigrated as a 3-year-old with his parents from Groningen to Michigan. He sat between 1993 and 2011 in the House of Representatives and was also there for three years head of the inlichtingencommissie.
He was also active in the Tea y, a conservative group within the Republican y. He was mentioned as a possible new director of the CIA.
The function came free because Timothy M. Broas in January 2016, resigned. He wanted to spend more time with his family and went back to the United States.
