Peru plans to charge Netflix, Uber, and digital firms: official

LIMA (Reuters) – Peru wants to be a foreign digital companies such as Netflix Inc., Uber Technologies, Inc., and Spotify Technology SA, have to pay taxes on the sales they make in the Andean nation, the head of the local tax collection agency, told Reuters on Tuesday.

By Claudia Suarez from the National Leadership of the tax department, estimated that Peru could increase to 150 million soles ($44 million) for next year’s taxes. She added that her office was working with the ministry of finance on the execution of a decree, which would not require congressional approval.
