People Shave Head for St. Baldrick’s Cancer Foundation

Celebration of St. Patrick’s Day: corned beef, green beer and shave your head? That is what the local residents in Green Bay, Wis., did to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation on Saturday reported.

The Saint Baldrick’s Foundation hosted its annual head-shaving fundraiser to raise money for cancer in children and more than 200 people came to the loss of their locks.

One of the children honored was a 6-year-old Iana Stoinski, one of the five Sacred Baldrick’s 2011 ambassador of the children. Stoinski was diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer at the age of two. After six months of intensive treatments, she is now cancer free.

“We did our first in 2004 and raised to $ 1,800, and here we are seven years later, in six figures,” organizer Barry Fitzgerald said.

The event, held in the St. Brendan’s Inn in Green Bay, raised more than $115,000.

All the money goes directly to cancer research.
