A 33-year-old man faces charges after he allegedly strangled his pregnant girlfriend with a pair of jeans.
Luke Bray, who was arrested on December 8, faces strangulation and simple assault.
According to the indictment, the police responded to a home in the 600 block of Madison Avenue on November 29 for a report of a domestic situation that occurred. The victim told the officer that she had just was attacked by Bray, her boyfriend. The officer noted that the victim was “visibly pregnant” and had a bruise on her head. The victim did not press charges at that time, court documents say.
On 8 December, the officer who responded to the end of November call followed with the victim to learn more about the attack.
The victim told the officer that Bray arrived at the house where he was living at the time — around 2:30 Bray, who just got off work, ran to the stairs and began arguing with the victim about her activity on Facebook, the complaint says. The two argued until 5 o’clock in the morning, according to the victim, before it became physical. The victim stated that she grabbed Bray’s jeans in an attempt to find his phone. When she did, he jumped out of bed and tried to rip the jeans away from her. The victim added that she rolled up into a “ball” with his jeans and was thrown on the ground. She told the officer that Bray then hit the pants leg in her neck and began to choke her. The victim believes she lost consciousness after the Bray his leg around her neck, the complaint say.
The victim stated that the only thing they could do to get him off of her was to bite him on the foot. When she did, Bray allegedly hit her on the head with a closed fist. The victim then managed to get away and pick up the phone to call the police. She told the officer that Bray as a matter of urgency on her two times in the attempts to get the phone away, but then stopped and laid back in bed, the criminal complaint states.
The victim gave him the advice to leave. On the same day, when the officer arrived, Bray was gone.
