WASHINGTON – Vice President Mike and his wife, Karen, joined to several dozen volunteers of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial holiday cleaning.
Orange wear-colored bucket with the message “we Do This,” the Pences spent about 40 minutes Saturday, the face of the famous wall, wiped on the National Mall, engraved with the names of the fallen soldiers.
The Vice President shook hands and posed for photos with the volunteers in subfreezing temperatures just after sunrise, when they declared: “This is a great way to start veterans day!”
The cleanup was sponsored by the New day, the United States, a mortgage company specializing in loans for veterans.
The group was accompanied by James Pierce, a National Park Service ranger who has lost a leg while serving with the North Carolina Army National Guard in Afghanistan.
