Passengers flying from Cancun to Toronto were reportedly stuck on the plane for an hour in the heat without air conditioning.

According to passengers, they were stranded for hours while they sat on the tarmac in Cancun on Friday. Despite the heat, they were reportedly no air conditioning, so the temperature rise in the cabin.

Several passengers on the flight took to social media to complain about the circumstances in which they were recorded. A Twitter user claiming to be a passenger stuck on the plane posted on a video that shows multiple passengers fanning themselves, and the children can hear crying in the background. The images were posted with the caption “Sunwing Airlines would have killed people today on their Eastern Airlines 767 to Cancun. Deboarded two times, no air, no AC, children screaming, people crying, my child is almost over! Shame on you Sunwing!”


Another Twitter user responded to the video, and also claims to be stuck on the plane. She said: “On this flight with you… had to strip my children of their underwear in a desperate attempt to cool after they were faint!”

A similar video was posted by another person claiming to be a passenger, with the caption “Stuck in a #deathtrap’s plane. Motor defective, not of the air.”

Passengers stuck on the plane for an hour, CTV News reports. After they had left, they finally boarded the plane again for the flight was finally canceled. According to reports, the passengers were left to deal with the situation for almost 24 hours.


In a statement obtained by Fox News, a spokesperson for Sunwing, said: “Since the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX, unfortunately a number of our regular activities are disrupted as we had to subcontract the services of other carriers such as Eastern Airlines. We can confirm that the flight WG272, operated by Eastern Airlines, was delayed from Cancun yesterday because of a maintenance issue that affects the air conditioning on board. After a wait on the tarmac for about 60 minutes, while the technicians tried to solve the problem on the site, the passengers were deplaned. Unfortunately, it has been determined that the aircraft was not maintained and a replacement unit was coming to work this morning. All of our customers are transferred to an all-inclusive resort for the night and brought back to the airport this morning. Food and drink vouchers were provided at the airport yesterday evening as this morning. We remain very sorry for the inconvenience and discomfort experienced by our customers as a result of these problems, and have lost.”
