Palm Bay Police: Elementary student brought gun to school

PALM BAY, PALM BAY, Florida. – Palm Bay police say a sixth grade student brought a gun to the Port Malabar elementary School and showed it to his classmates.

Lt. Mike Bandish tells Florida Today that police responded to the school around 9 a.m., Tuesday. Teachers told officials that a classmate had reported the gun, which was a 9mm Glock.

The police charged the boy with possession of a firearm on school campus. The officials have no ammo on the boy or the gun.

Brevard Public Schools officials said that the parents were notified Tuesday about the incident.
