Oscarfavoriet Moonlight premiere at International Film Festival Rotterdam
Oscarfavoriet Moonlight experience at the end of January, the Dutch premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). The drama about a dark homosexual teenage boy living his place in the world are trying to find, is shown in the section Perspectives.
The festival wishes with this selection, ‘polarization and fault lines in contemporary society studies’, made the IFFR and distributor Splendid Thursday known.
Director Barry Jenkins will be at the festival are present. His visit to the Netherlands coincides with the publication of the Oscarnominaties. The drama was produced by Brad Pitt, who purposed to make a film of the unpublished play Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue.
The movie Moonlight by connoisseurs tipped as one of the major contenders in the uitreking of the most important film awards in the world, at the end of February. Especially actor Mahershala Ali (House of Cards, Luke Cage) that has an important role to play, is often mentioned for an Oscar. The film runs from January 26, in the Dutch cinemas.
In the section Perspectives are all thematic programmes of the IFFR this year bundled. The global (political) polarization, outsiders that the establishment provoking and the growing racism in separate selections will be featured. In a separate program, the Palestinian cinema featured, in which “the tragedies, dreams, absurdity and hope is shown’ of the residents of the Palestinian territory.
The complete IFFR program is mid-January published. The 46th edition of the festival will take place from 25 January to 5 February.
