ORGANIZATION wants Twents veilinghuis abandons auction of portraits Hitler and Himmler
The Centre for Information and Documentation on Israel (ORGANIZATION) wants the Twents Veilinghuis cancel the auction of three naziportretten. The portraits, one of Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler, were made by Wolfgang Willrich, a SS.
The ORGANIZATION calls the auction “shocking and tasteless”. ORGANIZATION-director Hanna Luden: “I have the auction house requested the presentation of these portraits. An auction house would not need the benefit.”
“Not only have the portrayed persons humanity unimaginable suffering caused, but also the painter himself was a fanatical nazi ideologue. The auction is in conflict with any decency and human dignity,” said Luden.
The auction house now has the images of the portraits removed from the website. Or are the paintings still on the list for the oktoberveiling. The starting price is 750 euro. The portraits are created in 1943. Wolfgang Willrich died in 1948.
Auctioneer Twente was fri night not be reached for comment.
