Winfrey seemed to be one step ahead of her Hawaiian neighbors on Thursday. After a number of social media users took to Twitter to plead the case for the former talk-show host in order to enable them to get to safety, she stated that she “immediately” should be assigned to fire officials, access to the private road for the evacuation, “many hours” before a Twitter user asked her to do it.
After the fire was lit and the fire spread, officials ordered thousands of residents to evacuate the Kihei and Maalaea areas, Hawaii News Now reported. Hawaii officials have shut down highways, so the fire brigade was able to fight the growing fire.
