Famous for decades, millions of viewers are on a first name basis with Oprah Winfrey.
With a career that includes acting, producing, and publishing of journals — together with more than two decades as the host of her own daytime talk show — Winfrey is no stranger to the spotlight.
Here are a few of Oprah’s biggest moments-as she celebrates her 66th birthday on Dec. 29.

“The Color Purple” to release, 1985
Winfrey garnered an academy award nomination for her supporting role in the Steven Spielberg film “The Color Purple,” was released in December of 1985.
Her film career was not, and She has also appeared in the projects in which she was a producer of the 1998 movie “Beloved,” and the 2014 drama “Selma,” and the tv series “Greenleaf.”

“The Oprah Winfrey Show entered national syndication in September 1986, with the episode” How to Marry the Man/Woman of Your Choice,” the Washington Post reported.

Oprah Winfrey has no regrets about not becoming a mother.
Winfrey, who has been dropped from 212 pounds to 145 pounds, and brought back a wagon with 67 pounds of animal fat on stage in November of 1988.
Winfrey later expressed regret for the so-called “car of the fat thereof.”
“When I look at the show, and I think it was one of the biggest ego trip of my life,” Winfrey told “Entertainment Tonight” in 2011. “When I look back on it, I think that’s a mistake, in more ways than one.”
“The Oprah Bill” In 1993
Seven years after the disclosure, she had been raped as a young girl, Oprah winfrey took to her sexual assault in the battle of Capital Hill in an effort to allow the child to wild beasts.
In 1991, Winfrey testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, in the framework of a national database of convicted child abusers. In her testimony, she said, “I am speaking on behalf of the children who want to be heard, but whose cries, wishes and hopes often, I think, I fall on deaf or inattentive ears.”
The National Child Protection Act, also known as the “Oprah Bill” was signed into law in 1993.

Winfrey held a wide a live interview with Jackson, in February 1993, approximately six months before the allegations of child molestation surfaced that August.
Jackson, who was accused of the murder of a 13-year-old man, paid a reported $20 million settlement but denied wrongdoing, and no charges were filed.
“People have asked me why I always have children around,” Jackson said in the Winfrey interview. “It’s because I think it’s a thing that I will never use them. Disneyland, amusement park, arcade, the games-I’m quite fond of all of those things, because that’s when I was a young kid, it was always work, work, work, work, work.”
Oprah’s Book Club, 1996
Winfrey appeared to be the start of Oprah’s Book Club on her show in September of 1996.
“When I was growing up, books were my friends,” she said at the time. “That’s when I had no friends, I had books. And it is one of the greatest joys I have now in life is to read a really good book, and you know that I have a really, really good book-after-book in order to read it.”
Books like Janet Finch’s “White Oleander,” and Jacquelyn Mitchard’s “The Deep End of the Ocean” is the first book club selection ever — became widely known after being featured.
James Frey’s “A Million Little Pieces”, was on a great sale after it was selected for Oprah’s Book Club, the author was confronted with the Amazing when he was admitted to fabricating parts of his memoir.
“I feel betrayed,” she told Us in her talk-show in January 2006. “But more importantly, I feel that you betrayed millions of readers.”
“Oprah’s Favorite Things,” 1996
The first “Oprah’s Favorite Things” show, that took place in November 1996, the Star-Telegram reported, adding that the Karen Neuburger pj’s were the first “Favorite Thing” ever.
“Aren’t they the softest things you’ll ever see?” a pajama-clad Winfrey asked the audience, who was also in pajamas. The talk show host that is known to be one of her “Favorite Things” gift guide, episodes.
Her show is now off the air, but the restraint: of 2017’s “Favorite Things,” including a $35 set up by the English muffins.

Already, a Daytime Emmy winner, Winfrey was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime emmys in May, 1998.
“I want to thank all of you who fed me, who have stood in the gap for me,” Winfrey said in her speech, before turning to speak to her partner, Stedman Graham, whom she called “the beloved man of the highest integrity.”
“Tuesdays with Morrie,” 2000
In 2000, Oprah winfrey has scored big with the hit made-for-TELEVISION movie, “Tuesdays with Morrie.”
Based on the book of the same name by Mitch Albom, the film starred Jack Lemmon and Hank Azariah, with Oprah winfrey as executive producer. Oprah winfrey, has finally been presented with the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Made for Television Movie and for the movie.
The oxygen Network’s launch in 2000
Winfrey was one of the first to invest in the female-oriented Oxygen network, and has even appeared on the channel in a 12-part program on the internet, The New York Times reported.
The channel will begin to take place in February 2000, NBC purchased in the year 2007.
“O, The Oprah Magazine,” to start, the year 2000

Winfrey became the first black woman on Forbes ‘ billionaires list, at No. 427, with a net worth of $1 billion, the AP reported at the time.
Forbes currently pegs Winfrey net worth $2.8 million.

During the season 19 premiere of ” The Oprah Winfrey Show,” the 276 members of the audience received a Pontiac G6 car.
“The audience was in on the secret as chosen by my co-workers, in part because each one is a car,” Winfrey said.
“The crowd went berserk. Just in time for the occasion, we brought in the Employees who were to be the case that a person ‘ s heart started palpitating a little too fast.”

In a May 2005 appearance on Winfrey’s show, Cruise and jumped up on the set of a sofa during an interview about his then-girlfriend Katie Holmes. Cruise’s behavior on the show made headlines, and was even parodied in the 2006 film Scary Movie 4.”
As I look back on the interview, Winfrey told TV Guide, “But I didn’t think it would turn into the brouhaha that it did. He was in love, and he was very happy with it, and he was put on a show for him, and he knows me, and he came out to play, and that was it.”
Oprah winfrey opens school in Africa-2007
In 2007, the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls opens in Henley-on-Klip, South Africa. The school serves hundreds of girls from a disadvantaged background and provides them with an education.
In an interview with the Washington Post, Oprah said, “I think that’s the reason that it is not only in Africa, but the world is in the state it is because of a lack of leadership at all levels of government, and in particular, with regard to the schools, and schools for the poor children.”
“The best way to make a change in the long-term, … give children exposure and opportunity and nurture them to understand their own power and ability,” she continued.
Very OWN start in 2011

OWN: the Oprah Winfrey Network, launched as a joint venture between Discovery Communications and Winfrey’s production company, in January of 2011.
The discovery was announced in December 2017, that is, the acquisition of a majority stake in the network, which is both reality shows and drama series, such as the Winfrey-produced “Greenleaf,” and “Queen Sugar.”

“I won’t say goodbye,” Winfrey told the audience at the end. “I’ll just say … until we meet again.”

Winfrey was one of the producers of the revival of the Broadway musical “The Color Purple” — and also nabbed a Tony for Best Revival of a Musical.
She was also one of the producers as well as the musical, which opened on Broadway in 2005.
Cecil B. DeMille Award, Which Is In 2018

Winfrey was honored at the end of 2018, the Golden Globe Awards with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for it — but they turned the focus of the civil rights and #MeToo movement, in her acceptance speech.
The media mogul referred to Recy Taylor, a black woman from Alabama who fought for justice after she was gang-raped by six white men in Alabama in 1944. Taylor died last month at the age of 97 years.
Winfrey expressed her gratitude to Taylor and to all the women who were silenced when they were talking about, and the mighty men, and the women who worked in factories, farms, and domestic workers, and in the academic world, the name of which will never be known.
“For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dare to speak their truth to the power that men have,” Winfrey said.
“But their time is up! Their time is up! Their time is over!” she shouted to a standing ovation. The phrase can also refer to the ‘Time’s Up’ initiatives, led by women in Hollywood and others in the fight against sexual misconduct; and that it was in the middle of the message, the actress sent out by wearing mostly black at the Golden Globes.
She ended on a hopeful note, saying, “a brand new day on the horizon, because of the people, some of whom were at the Golden Globes, the audience, who will take us back to a time when no one ever has to say, “me too,” back.”
Winfrey’s speech during the awards show, had a number of fans and fellow celebrities to call for her in a presidential run.
She told the Los Angeles Times that “the people” are, or have been a faithful partner of the president, adding “it would most certainly do it.”

Oprah winfrey was given the honor of gracing the August 2018, with the cover of the British Vogue.

“The Path Is Made Clear,” By 2019
Oprah released her sixth book, titled “The Path is Made Clear,” in April 2019 at the latest.
The book is not a self-help piece that will help readers discover their true purpose in life, to which Oprah says, “Your real job in life is to find out as soon as possible, what it is that you are meant to be, and start to respect what you are called to, in the best sense of the word.”
In an Instagram post, hyping the release, but Can you find that in the book, it is fun for students to try to figure out what is next … or who have questions or are in need of peace of mind in the Path that you are now.”
