Oprah will be the christian New Statendam when it is ready to sail.
Oprah Winfrey will serve as a “meter” of a new Holland America ship named the New Statendam (pronounced “new STAHT-un-dam”).
In a video recorded with her friend Gayle King, Winfrey told “sailing to Alaska last year” on a Holland America ship, adding that they are “setting sail again.”

Winfrey will participate in a Jan. 30 three-day “Girls Getaway” on the cruise line of the new ship of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Passengers can participate in one of the three live ” in conversation with Oprah on board. Other getaway events will be hosted by the editors of O, The Oprah Magazine, including the King, the editor-at-large.
Winfrey will also christen the ship in a private ceremony on an unknown date. The ship is under construction in Italy.
It is our great privilege to be the name of Oprah Winfrey, philanthropist, film star, TV icon and founder and editorial director of O, The Oprah Magazine as godmother of the New Statendam. Oprah officially dedicating the ship in a private ceremony in early 2019.
