Opgraafwerkzaamheden body painter Dalí started in Spain

The exhumation of the mortal remains of the painter Salvador Dalí is Thursday night started. A judge in Spain went here last month and agree that a paternity test using the DNA of Dalí can be performed.

With the test a 61-year-old woman, María Pilar Abel, to show that she is a daughter of Dalí.

Abel fights since 2007 for the recognition of the paternity of the legendary surrealist artist. The mother of the woman would be in the fifties a covert relationship with him have had. There are no documents or DNA traces that the family can confirm.

At the Dalí Theatre-Museum in the Spanish place Figueres arrived Thursday shortly before closing time at 20.00 hours workmen and technicians. They must be one and a half ton marble slab from the tomb of Dalí lights. Also is the glass dome of the building, including the embalmed body in a crypt, for curious eyes, covered.

Court doctors have samples of the body, for examination to a laboratory in Madrid will be sent. The opgravingswerkzaamheden take probably the entire night. The results of the DNA testing are in about a month.

The born in 1904 the painter died in 1989 at his birthplace Figueres. He married in 1934, Gala Dalí, but the couple never had children. There were even rumors that the two their marriage never consummeerden. Later biographers claimed that Dalí was a homosexual and possibly suffering from impotence.
