Openings scheduled for a man accused of abusing ‘gifted’ girl

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Opening statements are scheduled for Wednesday in the trial of Pennsylvania man accused of having sexual six girls in the same family.

A jury was selected Tuesday in Bucks County for the trial of the 52-year-old Donald Lee Kaplan on numerous allegations of rape and sexual assault.

The authorities claim that the Feasterville man has two children with one of the girls, a then 14-year-old, who was “donated” to him by her parents because Kaplan helped the couple out financially.

Attorney Ryan Hyde, says Kaplan argues that the mother of his children is his wife and that he did not touch the others.

The parents are awaiting conviction on the child endangerment convictions.

Kaplan has been jailed on $2 million bail as he awaits his trial. His lawyer has asked for an insanity defense.
