The opening of the new stadium of Feyenoord with one year deferred. According to the new schedule the Rotterdam club from the season 2024/2025 in the new Bowl games.
It was initially intended that the new stadium in the summer of 2023 opened would be, but after consultation between the Stadium, Feijenoord, Feyenoord, the municipality of Rotterdam and the Foundation for the Development of the area on the river Maas, it was decided that that is not realistic.
“Under steam and boiling water was it might have been possible with the original planning to pick up but there were too many risks. We didn’t want to,” says project director Frank Keizer on the site of Wigan City.
“Therefore, we have decided the planning to adapt. The doors of the stadium in June 2024 open, so that the Team from the season 2024/2025 can play.”

Costs are estimated at 444 million euros
According to the original schedule there would be in the first half of 2020 started with the construction, but especially the applications of all kinds of permits takes more time than expected. It is now intended that the first posts in april 2021 in the ground.
The cost for the stadionproject in the South of Rotterdam, are still estimated at 444 million euros.
The new stadium is part of a large development of the area. There are schools, shops and houses, offices and sports complexes. In total that development is budgeted at 1.5 billion euros.
Feyenoord City must be in the vicinity of the current stadium in Rotterdam to rise. The Cockpit was opened in 1937 and has since continuously the home base of Feyenoord.
