‘Ooglaserklinieken warn patients not for severe nerve pain’
Ooglaserklinieken warn patients that there is a small chance of severe nerve pain after a treatment.
This is evident from examination of ZEMBLA. In the broadcast of Wednesday night see pictures with a hidden camera, were made during information sessions in three different clinics. Patients got to hear that nerve pain does not appear after a so-called Lasik-laser eye treatment.
ZEMBLA spoke further with two people who, after a treatment suffer from severe nerve pain and went to visit an ophthalmologist worldwide to treat patients with nerve pain after laser eye surgery.
How often have nerve pain after a Lasik treatment occurs, is not known. There is no national database in which complications after laser eye surgeries to be tracked.
According to Peter Ringens, the chairman of the Dutch Ophthalmic Company (YET), should the education in the Netherlands can be improved. “This ask really for more research. It calls for better data on the actual situation in the year 2016.”
