Only 4,700 people have travelled with ov-chip card on a smartphone
The app OV-chip mobile’, allowing travellers to pay for public transport, has no flashy start for me. Only 4,700 people have the means of transport used.
Director of Arco Groothedde of Translink, the company that the ov-chipkaart, called Friday in the AD “thick bales”. He describes the early days of the mobile ov-chipkaart as “worthless”. The first customers used the mobile ov-chipkaart, on average, less than five times per person.
There are played directly a lot of technical issues when creating a mobile ov-chipkaart. Customers were a lot of different steps, and the process was for KPN customers completely shut down.
In the future they will again be able to make use of the app, says Groothedde. After the summer is determined when that exactly will happen.
“We are also open for feedback. Come along if you think it is easier!”, according to a spokesman Friday.
The word flop she doesn’t want in the mouth, did acknowledge that the app may be too quickly introduced. “We had better have a beta version can be called that is still in development. For us, it is now ‘learning by doing’. But the people who already travel are very enthusiastic.”
Already at the end of 2015 started different providers test with the mobile ov-chipkaart. Actually had the service in 2016 nationwide are being rolled out, but that did not work.
