A shooting incident on Thursday, a senior-living apartment building in the city centre of Vancouver, Wash., to the left of a person’s death, and two others were injured, according to officials.
A suspect was taken into custody after he had briefly barricaded himself in his apartment, and the Vancouver Fire department, said, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting.
The two people who were injured were listed in “good condition” at the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, according to the fire department.
Investigators said the shots were fired in the lobby. It was not clear at the time of its publication, or to the victims and to the wounded, some were staff members, residents, or visitors to the property.
The police department received a call about an active shooter situation at 2:10 pm PT; hostage negotiators were able to talk to the defendant, 3 pm, Fox 12 Oregon reported.
The FBI’s Seattle Division responded to the scene, as an agent of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

The streets around the area were closed while police continue their investigation.
Some of the residents were evacuated and others were told to shelter in place, Fox, 12, said.

Vancouver’s Mayor, Anne McEnerny-Ogle issued a statement: “[ … ] ” Our hearts go out to the victims and their families as they cope with this tragedy. I commend our police, fire and EMS personnel quickly responded to the scene. I have the utmost confidence in our officers as they work to resolve the situation.”
