Progressive advocacy MoveOn.org pushes 2020 presidential candidates to skip a pro-Israel lobby group’s conference in Washington next week.
The three-day conference, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Vice-President Mike Pence, Senate majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Secretary of state Mike Popeo, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi headlined.
In a press release, the group says that 74 percent of members who agree or strongly agree that “all progressives are vying for the democratic nomination for President should skip the AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) conference.”

“This survey is less review a formal vote, and more of what MoveOn members think,” said Iram Ali, MoveOn’s campaign director.
“It is time to recognize for a progressive to where your base is-which means that the continuation of the progressive principles on the domestic AND foreign policy,” MoveOn tweeted Wednesday, followed by “Skip #AIPAC2019.”
MoveOn referred to AIPAC on the expenditure of tens of millions of dollars in 2015 to defeat the Iran nuclear deal negotiated by the former President, Barack Obama, and that it sold the matching “anti-Muslim and anti-Arab rhetoric, while the platforms Islamophobes.”
“It is no secret that AIPAC has worked to prevent the diplomatic efforts, such as the Iran deal undermines Palestinian self-determination and inviting figures, said active in human rights abuses to its stage,” Ali.
