Ohio teacher seen in video approach of the pupil is suspended

CANTON, Ohio – School authorities in northeast Ohio say a high school teacher has been suspended with pay and is being investigated after a cell phone video surfaced showing him the approach of a student in a classroom.

The Canton Repository reports from the City of Canton Schools superintendent said in a statement that the McKinley High School teacher’s behavior was “disturbing and unprofessional.”

The short video recorded Dec. 4 let the teacher touching a male student in the arm, that the student has to pull away. The teacher wraps his arm around the student’s neck and takes him to the ground.

It is unclear what the reason for the meeting.

The student served one day suspension for insubordination before the video surfaced.

The 48-year-old teacher had his teaching license suspended for 60 days in 2015 after being sentenced for domestic violence.
