At the CEMETERY, Va. – State and federal authorities responded to an industrial chemical plant as part of what a Virginia official says, is a criminal environmental investigations.
AdvanSix said in a statement that the authorities were on the company’s plant in Hopewell on Tuesday for the execution of a search warrant. Spokeswoman Debra Lewis said the company is “still learning” about the research and they could not provide further details.
Ann Regn, a spokeswoman for Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. She says the agency takes part in a criminal environmental investigation, led by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The Associated Press left a message with EPA seeking further comment.
According to AdvanSix the website of the plant outside of Richmond is one of the world’s largest single-site producers of a chemical substance that is used for the packaging, plastics and fibers.
